Formal Rent Reduction Request

We are very sorry to hear that you are experiencing issues in your household, this is an anxious and upsetting time for us all.

So that we can forward your request to your landlord would you be so kind to confirm what you would like to propose in as much detail as possible.

None of us know what is likely to happen in the future and we can only try and work on a best guess basis so our advice would be to try and figure out your affordability with the information that you have in hand today.

Whilst considering your request we would note that whilst you may have heard that banks may be giving 3 months payment holidays to their clients these are only delayed payments, they are not free payments. The government is not offering grants or free periods to landlords, the mortgage debt still remains due to their bank no matter what happens. So with this in mind landlords are not able to offer free rent to tenants although they may consider reduced rents under certain circumstances.

This debt will obviously climb on a monthly basis whilst it is not being paid. Please be clear in your request how much and when you will repay the debt to the landlord.

An example would look something like the below:
In May, June and July you propose to pay 50% of the rental amount and then in August, September, October you would pay 150% of the rental amount so that the overdue figure is then paid up.
